Seven and Seven’s philosophy is that, for an independently financed film, it is in the Producer’s and Investors’ best interest to retain control of the only tangible asset, the Film. With the help of Seven & Seven Producers’ Service, the Film could be sold globally, licensed directly with all the international distributors, maximizing revenue at the source, allowing the Producer to retain control of the equity investment for the life of its exploitation and enjoy first hand success of the Film.
On our website we attempt to explain what we do, who we are, and the type of projects, which would benefit most from our help.
A Sales Agent’s agreement usually involves the Producer devolving an element of control over his project for the first time since its inception. This commitment is sometimes binding for 10 – 25 years and does not necessarily come with any minimum guarantee or a significant advance. The projected sales figures may never materialize and even with a cap on expenses there may be dubious costs deducted against the film that are unacceptable. Sales Agents’ negotiations with the Distributor are not always made with the Producer’s best interest in mind, and personal attention to your Film may be only limited to the first year of your sales agency agreement. The Sales Agent may not make the effort to be available to answer the Producer’s questions about the plethora of reports (or lack thereof), nor explain whether the Producer is truly getting what is owed.
Seven & Seven’s method of operation is a completely transparent service for the Producer. The term is limited to three and a half years, and all distribution deals are made directly between the Producer and each distributor, with net receipts coming directly to the Producer from the distributors. The international buyers’ agreements will be negotiated to maximize the revenue for the Film and future income. Reporting and any reissue requests will come directly to the Producer. This method may entail more work and financial commitment for the Producer, but it guarantees 100% control because the Producer is in total charge of expenditures and receipts.
In return for their services, the Producer pays Seven & Seven a flat commission of 20%* of the gross sales receipts. Seven & Seven’s fee is considerably lower than a Sales Agent’s, and Seven & Seven does not deduct any expenses on the Film unless the Producer has explicitly requested and agreed to such an additional expense. |
